MODE OF EXAM
The exam will be on 4 stage –
- First stage CBT
- Second stage CBT
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (only for ALP)
- Document Verification
- First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician)
Subject: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness of Current Affairs
- Second Stage CBT (who pass in 1st stage CBT)
Subject: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering, General Awareness of Current Affairs
Subject: Trade syllabus obtained from the DGET website
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (only for ALP)
This is applicable for Assistant Loco Pilot Posts. This applicants have to sit in Computer Based Aptitude Test after qualifying Second stage CBT with a pass mark of 42 and there is no relaxation for all.
But for Technicians post, they need not to sit in this examination. They will directly go through the Document Verification round after qualifying 2nd stage CBT with a minimum pass mark of 42.

QUESTION PATTERN & CUTOFF MARKS
Question Pattern of Rail Assistant Loco Pilot & Technicians exam is Multiple Type Question type or simply MCQ type. There will be total 100 questions of 1 Mark/question, and the total time of exam duration is 90 minutes.
There will be negative marking for wrong answer. For each wrong answer, ⅓ Marks will deduct, means 1 mark will be deducted for 3 wrong answers.
And the cut of marks for General – 40%, ST/ST/OBC – 30% of total marks. After qualifying in this stage candidates will go for Physical Efficiency Test (PET) on the next stage.
Syllabus for RRB GROUP D
RRB already published a detail syllabus for Group D exam. If anyone follow this perfectly, then he/she will be surely crack Group D exam. Because all the questions will be from this sections only. The detail Syllabus is described below –
- Mathematics :- Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
- General Intelligence and reasoning :- Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
- General Science: – The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10 standard level.
- General Awareness on current affairs: – in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.
- Basic Science and Engineering (This Subject only for Second Stage CBT Part-B Exam) – The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
ADMIT CARD OF RRB ALP & TECHNICIANS
Admit card will be issued to all qualified candidates individually. Applicants can download the Admit card from the Board website when it will be available.
After the written exam, the candidates who will be eligible for next round have to download an another Admit or intimation letter from the same website. Without an admit card a candidates can not sit in exam or his/her candidature may be canceled.

SELECTION PROCESS
Selection will be based on the decision of the authority. At first you have to qualify in the written exam. After that you have to called for an interview or viva-voice. It depends on many factors. And here all the selection process depends on the selection authority.

Important Message
- If you have selected your category as SC or ST previously in the RRB ALP 2018 application time, then you are eligible to get free sleeper class railway pass for the exam. During downloading the RRB ALP admit card 2018, you have to also download the free sleeper class railway pass along with your admit card. Print that also. Take that along with your original caste certificate when you are travelling for the exam.
