The Scheme has been introduced in order to invigorate and revitalise the various institutions under the Ministry of Culture (MoC) and other identified cultural institutions in the country, by encouraging scholars/ academicians to affiliate themselves with these institutions to work on projects of mutual interest.
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, invites nominations/applications for the award of 45 Fellowships and 75 Scholarships in the Scheme component of Tagore National Fellowship for Cultural Research (TNFCR) under the Scheme of Scholarship and Fellowship for Promotion of Art and Culture. The Scheme is open to both Indian and foreign nationals.

TAGORE NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP
- Scholars who have sound academic or professional credentials and have made significant contribution to knowledge in their respective fields.
- Those individuals who have publications in reputed and referred journals and books or persons with significant creative work in any field of art or culture.
- Be of highest standing in terms of research and years of experience.
- Have a very impressive list of publications, that have found acceptability in the scholarly world.
- Have past experience in dealing with the projects directly connected to the Nodal Institution and/or allied institutions.
- The scheme will cover Ministry of Culture (MoC) & Non-MoC cultural institutions.
- The Scheme is open to both Indian and foreign nationals.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE OF TAGORE NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP
- Download the application from from the official website or the download link below.
- Fill all the detail information carefully.
- Write all fields in only CAPITAL letters.
- Affix a recent passport colored photo and do a signature at the mention space.
- Buy a envelop and put the application form inside it and cover it with gum.
- Candidates may submit their application to any one of the Nodal Institutions of his/her choice depending upon the area of research proposed to be undertaken
- The List of nodal institutions along with the other relevant details of the Scheme and application form are available on the website of this Ministry www.indiaculture.nic.in and Nehru Memorial Museum and Library – nehrumemorial.nic.in under the Scheme Head of the website
- The applications should reach the Nodal Institutions on or before 04 March 2019 (05.30 PM). Applications should not be sent to the Ministry of Culture or Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT OF TAGORE NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP
- The scheme has two categories of Awards – Tagore National Fellows’ and ‘Tagore Research Scholars’. Under the first category selected candidates will be paid an honorarium of Rs.80000/- per month
- Up to 15 awards are given in a year in this category. The selected candidates of the second category will be paid an honorarium of up to Rs.50000/- per month. Under this category up to 25 awards are given in a year.
- A Fellow will be entitled to Accommodation Allowance up to 30% of his usual pay, including Grade Pay or the honorarium paid, subject to presentation of rent receipts.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- The applications so received will be examined by the Institution Level Search-cum-Screening Committee (ILSSC) constituted by each participating institution for the purposes of this scheme, and the applications found worthy of consideration will be shortlisted and recommended by it to the National Selection Committee (NSC).
- The best senior scholars, who have well-established reputations in the fields of specialization as are relevant to this scheme, would be invited by the Ministry of Culture to join the NSC.
DURATION OF THE SCHEME OF TAGORE SCHOLARSHIP
- The duration of the Fellowship will be for a maximum period of two years.
- In exceptional cases, the institution may recommend to the NSC an extension for a period of upto one more year, or reduction to somewhat less than two years, if it is supported by its assessment of the quality of the work undertaken.
- The award of the Fellowship will commence from the date of joining and the months and years would be reckoned accordingly.

NOTICE
Once awarded a Tagore National Fellowship, a candidate cannot apply again for a Fellowship / Scholarship under this scheme, either at the same or any other institution covered under the Scheme, but this restriction will not apply to Tagore Research Scholars.
